Secure your accounts, not just the device
Your phone is a gateway to accounts that live in the cloud. Protect those too.
- Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) for Google, Apple, WhatsApp and email. Prefer an authenticator app over SMS where possible.
- Set a WhatsApp PIN (two-step verification) so nobody can hijack your number and message your contacts.
- Use a password manager or at least avoid reusing the same password everywhere.
Prepare for the worst: loss or theft

Set this up before anything goes wrong, because afterwards is too late.
| Action | Android | iPhone |
|---|---|---|
| Locate device | Find My Device | Find My |
| Erase remotely | Yes | Yes |
| Show "lost" message | Yes | Yes |
| Backup data | Google account | iCloud |
Make sure remote-find is switched on and your data backs up automatically. If your phone is stolen, you can then locate it, lock it, display a message with a contact number, and wipe it remotely. Immediately afterwards, block your SIM with your operator and freeze your banking apps.
