AC and electrical load — the honest answer

The air conditioner does load the engine, so in crawling city traffic, switching it off saves a little fuel. But at highway speeds the trade-off flips: open windows create so much drag that the AC often wins. The practical rule is windows down in slow traffic, AC on at highway speeds. Beyond that, comfort and safety matter more than chasing a fraction of a kilometre per litre.

What does NOT work

Save your money — these deliver nothing real:

Claim Reality
Fuel additives & "pills" No credible mileage benefit
Magnets on the fuel line No scientific basis
Premium fuel in a normal car No gain unless the engine needs it
Over-inflating tyres Saves a trace of fuel but ruins grip and wear

Over-inflating tyres beyond the recommended pressure is a particularly bad idea — the tiny fuel saving comes at the cost of grip, uneven wear and a harsher ride.
